What are the 2025-26 income tax rates?+
For FY 2025-26, Australian income tax rates are: 0% up to $18,200; 19% from $18,201 to $45,000; 32.5% from $45,001 to $120,000; 37% from $120,001 to $180,000; and 45% above $180,000. These rates are unchanged from FY 2024-25.
What is the Super Guarantee rate in 2025-26?+
The Super Guarantee rate reached its final legislated rate of 12% in FY 2025-26, effective from 1 July 2025. This is the last scheduled SG rate increase — employers must now contribute 12% of ordinary time earnings to eligible employees' superannuation funds.
What is the Medicare Levy Surcharge threshold for 2025-26?+
The Medicare Levy Surcharge applies to singles earning above $93,000 and families earning above $186,000 who do not hold eligible private hospital cover. Surcharge rates range from 1% to 1.5% on top of the standard 2% Medicare Levy.
What is the HECS-HELP repayment threshold for 2025-26?+
The HECS-HELP repayment income threshold for FY 2025-26 is $54,435. Mandatory repayments start at 1% of repayment income above this threshold and rise progressively. The threshold is indexed to wages each year by the ATO.
When is the 2025-26 tax return due?+
FY 2025-26 tax returns cover income earned from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026. Lodgement opens from 1 July 2026. The self-lodgement deadline is 31 October 2026. Tax agent clients may have until May 2027 depending on their agent's lodgement program.
